Finishing refers to the practice of maturing a spirit, for short periods of time, in a cask that previously held other liquids. The process allows whiskey makers to add additional layers of flavor to a whiskey.

This Texas whiskey is planning on being fully-and-truly from Texas ASAP. For now, the juice is primarily sourced from MGP of Indiana. Oak & Eden ships those barrels down to Texas where they blend their whiskey and then add the oak spire to recreate a sort of double-barrel finish in the bottle. The result is one of the more unique bottles on the shelf today.

The question I'm most often asked when I tell folks I manage a food publication is, "What whiskey do you recommend?" There's just something about whiskey and its American counterpart known as bourbon that seems to confuse us all.

TheYellowstonestar and real-life cowboy is continuing his collaboration with Oak & Eden Whiskey to produce another round oftheir unique blend: A 116 proof bourbon whiskey finished with a cold brew coffee-soaked American Oak spiral. It’s part of the company’s Anthro Series, a brand designed by Oak & Eden to link up creatives and whiskey fans to customize their own crafted whiskey.

The key to these bold bottles is portability, along with taste that’ll brighten the flames.

Created in collaboration with Texas rock duo Jamestown Revival, this rye whiskey is the latest addition the Oak & Eden's growing line of spirits. It begins with a bold, barrel strength rye whiskey that was aged in American oak that has plenty of spicy, floral notes. Then, as with all Oak & Eden products, finishing begins.

From an outside perspective or from a purist angle, the crafting of bourbon whiskey might seem fairly rigid, requiring very specific ingredients in very specific amounts to even qualify as “bourbon” at all. However, clever craftsmen — like those at Oak & Eden — have recognized that one can remain true to traditional methods while still offering an innovative take on old-school spirits.

The whiskey market is unafraid of a good gimmick; this we can say for sure. Most of your classic craft whiskey gimmicks, however, tend to take place on the distilling or aging side of the process—few continue on into the liquid’s life after being bottled.
